What Do I Need to Know Before I Start Dance?

  • When should I arrive?

We recommend that you arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the start of class to give you ample time to prepare. All students are strongly encouraged to use the bathroom prior to class. We kindly ask that all students be picked up immediately following the end of class.

  • What do I wear?

For Toddler and Preschool sessional classes, children are asked to come dressed in comfortable dancewear that is easy to move in, such as a bodysuit, tights, and skirts for girls or a white t-shirt and black shorts for boys. Dancers' hair should be tied out of their face.

For specific information on dress code and hair style by discipline, please refer to the AFDS Handbook.

  • When will my class be?

Class schedules are provided after fall registration closes to ensure appropriate placement of students based on their skill level.

Please include any scheduling conflicts on your registration form and we will do our best to accommodate.

To see your schedule or to make payments on your account you can visit our parent portal:

    https://app.thestudiodirector.com/acrossthefloordancest/portal.sd

  • What level will I be at?

All new students with previous dance experience are assessed by one of our instructors BEFORE being placed in a class to ensure proper class placement by ability. The assessment is scheduled after your registration is received.
